WW2 Japanese Imperial Army Type 98 Theodolite Transit & Original Case UNISSUED

  

This WW2 Japanese Imperial Army Type 98 Theodolite Transit & Original Case is in excellent, UNISSUED condition and is an amazing piece of Imperial Japanese hardware. All pieces have matching serial numbers including the carrying case.

The original cleaning supplies are still wrapped in paper and have never been removed from their compartments. The interior of the case has one piece of green felt that has come loose (it can be seen in the photos), this is the only sign of age or "damage" I can find. The classic tan paint is strong overall but has some wear spots. The lenses are clean and when looked through a reticle can be easily seen and read sorry, could not get a good photo of this!

The optic turns smoothly, "butter" like almost and appears to still be packed with it's original grease. The only symbol I can identify on the optic is a Tokyo First Army Arsenal star near the rear eyepiece. The painted metal carry case is in very good condition and retains most of it's original paint. The painted lettering on the box's top lid is very strong and striking. The canvas shoulder straps are still firmly attached and in good condition overall but do show signs of age and storage.

The badge on the top of the lid has the same serial number as the other components. This is truly an exceptional, undisturbed artifact from the PTO and would make a wonderful addition to any advanced Imperial Japanese collection.
