Ww2 imperial Japanese navy koshirae for type97 naval kai-gunto. This is a koshirae of a WWII-era Japanese Navy sword. After Japan lost the war, GHQ ordered to confiscate or destroy the weapons. I believe the original blade was broken and only the koshirae was left. The unbreakable blade has been retrofitted. There is one more small kiribane on the blade side to prevent rattling. The imitation sword blade fits the arrangement well and does not rattle at all. The sword is not disassembled from the time of acquisition, because it is likely to rattle if it is disassembled improperly. The scabbard and handle are both in good condition with no major scratches, and despite its age, it is a beautiful item. Again, this is not an original blade, but a replica.
