Original WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy Junior Officer Visor Cap
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good condition Japanese Naval Officer's Visor hat. It has a body of dark blue wool with a black ribbed cotton cap band. Center of cap features a bullion wire embroidered Japanese Naval Anchor insignia surrounded by Laurel leaves and a "Cherry Blossom" above the anchor, so this is for a front line officer, and not a reserve officer, who would have a "nautical star" instead. It even comes with a white cover for the crown, which would be installed depending on the color uniform worn. The black lacquered visor shows little sign of wear, with a great finish. There is just a bit of bubbling near the front trim. The chin strap looks to be made of faux leather pressed paper, and is in excellent condition, with no flaking or other deterioration. The interior is lined in purple rayon cloth (typically missing), with the cheesecloth reinforcement underneath. There is still a name tag on the top, which is still mostly legible. Size is approximately 6 3/4. It has a look to it which shows it saw moderate service, brought back after that war by a USN veteran. The nice olive brown painted case measures 10 1/2 x 6 5/8, and looks to be made of some type of fiber material, or possibly pressed paper, as it is quite hard.
It still has the original exterior paint, and locks. There is also still most of the original cardboard inner lining. A very nice Imperial Japanese Navy officer's cased cap, ready to display!
