This is an original, Second World War era Imperial Japanese Army Type 99 2.5 x 13 machine gun scope, complete with its leather carrying case. The scope still has 90% or more of its original black finish and has a clear, clean field of view (just a few minor dust specks).
This scope was used with the Type 99 and the Type 96 LMGs. The markings are clear and legible.
Mounting adjustment knob is fully functional. The only missing item is the rubber eye cup, but considering its age and the materials used to manufacture these cups that is nearly always the case. The leather case is original, and early war, complete with shoulder strap and buckles. There is a fair amount of surface wear to the exterior, and unfortunately someone has carved a number of Roman letters onto the front and sides.Otherwise, it appears to be a fine example of the case. The cap does buckle securely and hold the scope.
