Down Under Southwest Pacific Theater WWII 43rd Bomb Group 5th Army Air Corp. This yearbook provides historical documentation of the 5th Army Air Corp fighting the Imperial Japanese in 1943. The 43rd Bomb Group flew mainly B-17's in 1943 and were stationed with the 90th Bomb Group in Australia and in New Guinea. Both the 43rd Bomb Group and the 90th Bomb Group jointly contributed to the victory at the Battle Of The Bismarck Sea in 1943. The first few pages of the crew pictures include several 90th BG crew member who together with the 43rd fought together.

Later in 1943 as more B-17's were being used in Europe B-24's from the 90th Bomb Group "Jolly Rogers" were reassigned to the 43rd. In the pictures of planes in this yearbook the famed "Joltin Janie" of the 90th's 321 Squadron, is pictured as a member of the 43rds planes.

This yearbook because of security measures at the time of it's printing, does not list the names of the individuals pictured in the yearbook. However a veteran of the group provided a separate 18 pages listing the names to most of the pictures of members of the group. The book also includes the signatures, rank and home address of many of the members of the 43rd BG.
