Mizuho was a unique seaplane tender/submarine tender hybrid. Launched on May 16, 1938.

Commissioned on February 25, 1939. Participated in various early Pacific War operations. Served as a frontline seaplane base. Displacement: 10,929 tons (standard). Sunk by USS Drum submarine on May 2, 1942 off Omaezaki. First major IJN warship loss of the Pacific War. This set offers a unique glimpse into pre-war Imperial Japanese Navy shipbuilding.
