WWII Imperial Japanese Navy Pilots Tropical White Uniform & Hat Oroko Aerodome

  

WWII Original Imperial Japanese Navy Officers' Tropical White Uniform & Hat Set Warrant Officer (very scarce rank) - Navy Float Plane Pilot flying out of Oroko Aerodome on Okinawa. Nice Officers' service visor cap Imperial Japanese Navy (the purple silk lining on the inside of the service visor hat indicates early or pre-WWII manufacture) the Naval Officers' Cap Badge has a wonderful patina and lots of character; correct chinstrap and Naval side buttons. The uniform has a 3 place ribbon bar sewn on and which still displays well sitting more upright than not when on a hanger, as photographed. The ribbons are left to right - 1944 Great East Asia War, Taisho Enthronement, and Red Cross Medal. The stitching to the left side of the bar is a little loose behind the 1944 Great East Asia War Medal Ribbon, a few small stitches would shore it up.

Inside is found the typical embroidered name in red and a laundry tag on the inside pocket that says'Oroko 3' The set came from a family household in Kyoto, Japan. Oroko 3' was a Aerodome base on Okinawa during the war. The owner of this tunic and hat set flew seaplanes, scouting, and downed airman rescue from early WWII. It is nearly impossible to find a Japanese Naval Warrant Officer uniform set, yet alone a pilot who flew floatplanes. An excellent addition to any advanced WW2 Japanese Naval Aviator Uniform / Service Hat Collection.

This piece displays very nicely and is not the average Japanese uniform / cap of WW2. The white visor cap cover and a few small places on the uniform exhibit some mildewing as is typical of this type of piece and the climate it spent most its life in.
