WWII Imperial Japanese Aviation Yearbook 1934 Editor's Annotated Copy
This is an extremely rare and valuable pre-WWII Japanese aviation yearbook. "Koku Nenkan" (Imperial Aviation Yearbook) Showa 9 (1934) Edition, compiled by the Teikoku Hikokyokai (Imperial Aviation Association). This specific copy is highly unique as it was the personal working copy of the editor-in-chief, Kameo Kitao, used for preparing the following year's edition. It contains numerous handwritten notes, corrections, and annotations throughout the book, making it a priceless primary source for aviation historians and collectors. The book provides detailed data on both military and civilian aviation in Japan and abroad, including. Advertisements of recruitment for volunteer aviation units and aviation schools in Korea (then under Japanese rule). The advertising pages also provide insights into Japanese colonial aviation education and infrastructure, giving this book additional historical value beyond aviation. There are some wear and stains consistent with age, but no missing pages.
Some pages include handwritten notes in pencil and pen by the editor (see photos). This is highly recommended for those interested in pre-war Japanese aviation history, military history, colonial studies, or political thought history.
