100% INERT, this was specific to the Type 100 81mm Mortar Round, used on the Type 97 and Type 99 Infantry Mortar! The Type 97 and Type 99 81 mm infantry mortar was a Japanese mortar used primary by Imperial Japanese Army and Navy during World War II. It entering service in 1937 and 1939 respectively, Japanese infantry units often are equipped with 81-mm mortars. The Type 99 81 mm mortar differs from the Type 97 81 mm infantry mortar in the shortness of its tube and in the method of firing. The differences between the Type 99 and the US 81-mm mortar, M1 are pronounced.
The modified version used by Imperial Japanese Navy with designation Type 3 mortar was used by naval land forces and as anti-submarine weapon on escort ships since 1943. Made of brass, aluminum, and steel, this Japanese Navy Type 88 Short Delay Fuse is in VERY NICE condition for it's age! There is some slight wear, scratches, and marks, but it is still VERY SOLID!
It retains 95% of it's original finish, and features some FANTASTIC markings and inspection stamps! His is an EXTRAORDINARILY RARE piece, and would make a SUPERB addition to any collection, display, or restoration project! Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft Fw190, Me262, etc. , as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. Use is solely based on my authorization only.
