WW II Imperial Japanese Navy Type 1 Gou CYLINDER HEAD TEMP GAUGE A6M D4Y

  

This was used in the A6M "Zero", J2M "Jack", N1K "George", D4Y "Judy", D3A "Val", J7W Sinden, G4M "Betty", and others! This instrument measured the current Cylinder Head Temperature of the engine. It was located on the main instrument panel of many of the main fighters and bombers. Made of brass, aluminum, and steel, this instrument is of late--war manufacture, and was removed from a downed Japanese aircraft by a US Serviceman.

As it is from a wreck, most of the original paint is gone, but it could easily be repainted, if one wished. Features an mid-war Type 4 Aluminum Data plate, clearly indicating the Model Type and Manufacture. There are some slight marks and scratches due to the age, but nothing that takes away from the overall appearance. Some damage to the rear plug.

I have indicated it's location in the last photos. Interesting that it still has the wartime field-applied markings on the glass! Like most Japanese instruments, this gauge is VERY RARE and would be a FANTASTIC addition to any.
