World War II Imperial Japanese Aircraft Clock. Case Measurement (excluding crown and flange fittings). Seikosha, is the ancestor company of today's Seiko. The Seikosha aircraft watch was produced during WW II and were the standard for Japanese combat airplanes during that time.
They were were made for the Imperial Japanese Army Air Forces as well as the Imperial Japanese Navy Air-Fleets. They were fitted in the instrument panels of all Japanese aircraft. But they are commonly sought by collectors due to the many photos of WW II Japanese Kamikaze pilots wearing these clocks on a cord around their necks. This example is in nice (not running) antique condition; with most of the paint still intact on these sides of the case and about 60% plus of the paint left on the caseback. The glass crystal is intact NO cracks just small dings noticeable under 10x magnification. The rotating bezel is loose from the case, we do have the original bezel clips and screws (see pictures) when we acquired the clock they were removed and looks like a couple of the screws were damaged. We can pull out the brass knob (crown) to change the time - but we can't wind and therefor not running. Clock is in the same condition as when we acquired it, we did not clean this piece - we wanted to show the true condition.
53mm aluminum case, rotating bezel (loose from the case), brass adjustment (crown) knob. Glass crystal, black dial, Arabic numerals, Kanji that translates to time, hour - start & stop tabs (was once painted with green and red).
