An olive-drab painted aluminum canteen with a wood stopper and webbed carrying harness. All complete and in excellent condition. Cork is in great condition and the leather strap is still soft. The canteen is an early war example, with metal buckles on the shoulder strap and on the leather strap that retains the wooden stopper (wartime economy measures would lead to the elimination of the metal buckles).

The body of the canteen shows very little wear to the painted finish as well as wear to the harness and shoulder strap and with rust to the metal buckles, all from wear of the canteen in the field. Both the aluminum canteen AND the webbed carrying harness are CLEARLY marked - see photos! A must for any collector.
