This is a WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Air Raid Siren! This type of siren was used to notify of any incoming air raid and attacks. Air raid sirens were installed to notify the public of incoming attacks, primarily during world war 2. The loudest ever made was built by Chrysler, called Chrysler Bell Victory Siren, which could be heard from up to 25 miles away. The three main types are mechanical, electro-mechanical, or fully electric, with mechanical designs dating back to the early 1900s.
This particular one is made of wood, aluminum, and steel, this WW2 Japanese Air Raid Siren is in good conditions for the age. Brough back by a US veteran.
The winding mechanism is 100% functional, and rotates smoothly, however it appears the wood handle is missing. Some nice patina due to age. A VERY LOUD item when the mechanism is rotating at the maximum speed.
Brought back to the US by Veteran, it would be a PERFECT item for any collection or display. We take a great pride in our online store, thats why we want to make sure your is packaged properly so it get to you safe and sound. If you have any questions please feel free to message us!
