Japanese WWII Naval Aviation Type 3 Model Flight Computer In Original Matching Numbered Storage Box. This rare piece of aviation equipment is largely aluminum (instead of brass) construction indicating a mid to late war 1941 and after Type 3 Model.
They were carried in the aircraft and used by aviators for plotting routes. The decal data plate on the box and the Computer has matching numbers on each plate.
The box measures about 13 " x 7.5 " x 2.25. The supports for the device are still affixed to the upper lid of the box as is a printed paper label. The two fragile hinges for the top lid have broken and the lid is now detached. An interesting feature is the still intact metal hook for hanging inside the aircraft which is suspended from a piece of parachute cord. These devices are also sometimes described as Torpedo Angle Solvers.
