Original WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Tropical Shirt - Mint - Museum Quality MARKED. The distinctive all cotton Japanese Army tropical short sleeve shirt with classic wonderful contrasting collar in a darker shade of green. The other distinctive feature is the two side apertures under the arm pit area to permit ventilation, a feature only on IJA tropical issue shirts and tunics.
This stone mint example is PRISTINE and the finest I have seen of these type and was carefully stored and conserved for many years. It is so well marked that in addition to the clear black ink stamps there are even tailors assembly marks on the back tails , large numbers 35 penciled inside! The size is a Japanese small. Mike Hewitt pages 188 and 195 in Uniforms and Equipment of the Imperial Japanese Army in World War II depicts this shirt. They also well illustrated on pages 103-104 in Agustin Saiz book HEITAI.These were extensively worn in the Pacific theater both under a combat tunic or as the sole outer garment along with tropical pants or breeches and are a MUST for any WW2 collection of the Pacific War.
